2008 Festival Sunday 17th August

We had a star studded line up of expert casters, fly tyers and competition fishermen offering a wealth of tips advice and tactics for still water and river fishing. If everyone learnt as much as I did then it was very worthwhile indeed. A big thanks to Paul Proctor, Darren Booth, Nick Halstead, Paul Davison, Jim Fearn, Gary Coxon, Steve Peterson, John Legg, Paul Bebb and Tony Riley. Between them they put an excellent display of talent that made for a great show. We had quite a few competitions over the day and the winners were as follows.

Distance casting: Graham Kennerly & D Moorhouse who both cast 95 feet.

Accuracy casting: was won by Billy Waterson who completed the circuit in 2 mins 30

Callum Smalley from Gisburn won the junior casting competition

Winning a free days fishing with a boat for correctly placing my top 4 fish of the season was David Stocker of Lancaster and Louise Mills from Clitheroe.

Winning the draw for the Greys GRXi fly rod was Anthony Hooley of Clitheroe and finally winning draw for the Reddinton Redfly 10” 7# was Simon Heyes from Wigan.

On whole the show was a great success and will be continued in the coming years.


Simon Hayes would be shaking Guide Fly Fishing John Legg's hand after winning the draw for the Reddington RedFly had he not stayed out on the water so long. Eventually John's arm got tired and he had to make tracks. Anthony Hooley recieved his GRXi Fly rod from Hardy Grey's Steve Peterson
